Our Story


Mission Statement

Crumb Together is a not-for-profit bakery with heart. We train and employ adults with disabilities to create delicious kosher baked goods under the supervision of a professional baker.  At Crumb Together Bakery they learn skills, build self-esteem, socialize, and are productive members of our community.  75% of adults with disabilities are unemployed. Our mission is to change that.

 

 Challenge

  • 75% of adults with disabilities are unemployed (US Dept. of Labor Feb. 2014)

  • 57 million adults in America have a disability (US Census April 2014)

  • 28.4% of Adults with disabilities live below the poverty line.(Cornell University US Disability Statistics)

  • 73% of Businesses reported a positive experience employing individuals with disabilities (Best Buddies Intl.)

Recipe for Success

Crumb Together Bakery meets and overcomes the challenge by designing a program that trains and employs individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to  combat the disproportionate unemployment rate of people with disabilities, increasing economic security, happiness  and overall quality of life while delivering an exceptional bakery experience. The Bakery increases awareness and understanding within the community by promoting greater tolerance, acceptance, and inclusion of adults with disabilities.
