Crumb Together Bakery is a social enterprise for adults with disabilities. The program teaches skills that will enable its participants to qualify for a job in the bakery & food service industry. Participants who complete all the required training will be eligible to take the exam to receive ServSafe Certification, the Connecticut certificate for food handling & safety.
This program is tailored for independent adults with special needs who do not require a 1-on-1 assistance.
Location: Licensed, Catering kitchen located at Beth Israel - Chabad 40 King Street, Norwalk
Duration: Semester, 16 weeks. At the conclusion of each semester bakers will have the option to continue training in our bakery or pursue employment options.
Dates and Times: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 9:30am -12:00pm

Measuring and pouring
Identification and correct use of ingredients and equipment
Following a recipe
Kneading and rolling out dough
Shaping and Braiding
Pre-heating and using an oven
Using a scale for accurate weights
Marketing a product
Sales to local business and individual buyers
